Lift your rod upwards hard and fast when working this jig. This movement brings the jig up fast resembeling that of fleeing squid/wounded baitfish. Then open the reel bail and allow the jig to flutter back into the "kill zone". There is no right way or wrong way to use the Japo. We recommend adding a secondary assist hook on all jigs. 90% of the bites on this jig come on the freefall.
